I enjoyed seeing the farm animals out there! There were Cows, ducks, geese, sheep and chickens!

The Town Drugstore & Ice Cream Shop
We all sat down to enjoy peach icecream, and enjoyed talking to the ladies who worked there! They were both dressed in "1890's" apparel, which I got excited about! We wore our hat's of course ;)

1890's FarmHouse
I enjoyed watching this lady...she spins the wool of her own sheep, and her close friend dyes the wool different colors at re-enactment events! I asked a few questions, and it was wonderful to hear her knowledge on the subject!

The Commissary (General Store)
I could've stayed in the general store all day! It was wonderful to see the different items from the era, and we had a good laugh to find out that we own a few "period correct" objects at home!

The Blacksmith Shop
I hadn't any idea how hot the fire gets in order to melt the iron; he told me 3000 degrees! Yikes!

The finished result: A snake! It was an excellent demonstration :)

The Printing Press
This original press is over 120 years old, and is still in use :)

This inspiring dress was on display in the museum, and (you know me!) I couldn't help myself but *try* to capture it! Hopefully I'll make a dress like this someday :)
It was so hard to leave! We were exhausted from a full day of walking, but it was definetely worth it! Dad expressed his desire to come back in the fall when the weather cools down..that'll be nice!

What a wonderful day you all had. I just love dresses they had in that time period...also the farm houses, the clothing, the simplicity of it all....FASCINATING!
I love the pictures of the commissary. It reminds me the St. James general store we had in NY that had penny candy, and its flour and sugar were in big barrels. I have such fond memories of going there with my family.

We have a museum like this in New York State called The Farmer's Museum in Cooperstown. I haven't been there in years, but I really enjoy spending a sunny day there. It's also nice because I have to drive through Amish Country to get there. Double the beauty! Thanks for sharing.

That looked like so much fun!!! We have a "living" history museum near us, with cabins, a Native American village, and other old homes (circa 1800's). I love how most of the workers dress in and act in character for the time period they work in.
It is one of my favorite places to visit on day trips, partialy because of the history...and because I am an avid amateur photographer.
I love old homes and vintage-esque things, I really enjoyed scrolling through the photos on your sidebar.

It sounds like you had a great July 4th! We went to the lake with other people from our little church. I and the rest of my family had such a wonderful time eating hamburgers and watching fireworks go off around the lake.
