Simply Wednesday

The OldFashioned Picnic is still scheduled for this Saturday--Oct 24th.
11 am-3 pm at Indian Springs Park
A time for fellowship and a few games :)
We look forward to seeing you there, *please* remember to email me if you're planning on attending! And feel free to dress up if you'd like! :)

This morning my sister continued working on a Slouch Beret she's crocheting for me :)
After breakfast, we sat outside and had a lovely time!

Tom Kitten says, "I think you skipped a stitch!"

To see the pattern, click Here (The pattern turned out to be small, so she increased to make it larger.)

While my sister crocheted, I read out-loud a chapter of 'The Last Sin Eater' by Francine Rivers.
It's an excellent book, and we took turns reading and crocheting together.

I've been blessed to have such a lovely sister. We're complete opposites in personalities(harmoniously compatible!), but she laughs at all my jokes, accents and stories (hehe) and I know that if I need her help during the most inconvenient time, or opinion on a song I wrote, she's always willing to sacrifice her time for others... A blessing indeed. Hope y'all have had a great week thus far!

That's the exact same pattern I used for my beanie. It was kind of small, but I didn't realize it until after I finished so I did my best to stretch it out and after much work it actually did. Hope yours turns out better!

Grace and peace

"The Last Sin Eater" by Francine Rivers is an excellent read! In fact, I read it about every three years or so. "The Mark of the Lion" series is very good, too!

What a lovely post, Mia! Aren't sisters great? My younger sister is my best friend, and I don't know what I would do without her! :)

~ Blessings to you,

I love that, two sisters taking turns reading out-lout and crocheting, this is how life should be...

Love that book! The movie was good, too. I sure wished I lived closer so we could come to your picnic. We love to dress up. In fact, we are going to get some old fashioned pictures taken today. I'm excited because my daughter will be wearing the pair of bloomers I made for her (see blog for picture). Hope you have a lovely time, Jackie said...

Glad to see that you appreciate your Macy while the two of you still live at home! Most siblings don't always realize this while being at home.

So great to have siblings you get along with so well - sisters can be the best kind of friends, I reckon! I love the dress in the picture of you reading, it looks so pretty! :) I hope you have a great time at the picnic - too bad I live 9000 or so miles away!! :P

I second the comment about the Mark of the Lion series! I really love everything that I've read from Rivers, but I haven't gotten to the Last Sin Eater yet... I think it's time for me to hunt it down :-)

I wish that I was close to my sisters... they are all very much interested in popular music, clothes, and makeup... and I was horrified the other day to learn that my sister didn't know who the apostle Paul was. I'm going to have to work on that.

Thank you for lovely inspiration!

Hi Mia!I love this post! Andthe dress you (or your sister) are wearing is SO cute! I'm impressed that you and your sister can crochet so well! I tried to teach myself, but couldn't get past the first row.
Does your sister have a blog?

I love your blog Mia - you and your family are an inspiration!

This reminds me so much of my sister and I Mia! Oh and by the way I have been a blog follower of your blog for a while. Sorry for not getting around to posting until now! Love your blog! its wonderful, as my family and I live in the city and we also homeschool. But I would love to live in the country! My sister and mother and I and daddy want chickens and to have more land. But we are in the city for now. This reminded me of my sister and I! She will sew by hand or crochet or knit while I read aloud to her or talk to her or while we both listen to music or audio CD's and sew and crochet or knit togeather! I love doing things along side my sister. We sew often togeather and also love to garden as well. we would love to have chickens and sheep and maybe a cow someday maybe! But for now its a dream.
