The cool breeze seems to whisper that Autumn is just around the corner.Along w/ jam, I made Quince Jelly for the first time! For Spiced Pear Jam I just added cinnamon, cloves and a little ginger to the fruit puree. Ah, it cooked like a warm spiced applesauce..really a great way to begin anticipating the Autumn season!
We've really enjoyed having hens, they're so simple to care for...and the reward of fresh eggs everyday is wonderful!

Heartwarming Oat Scones

*1/3 cup melted butter, *1 egg, *1/3 cup milk
Mix together ingredients...
~
~
~
Then sprinkle w/ Cinnamon sugar topping
(1 TBsp sugar & 1/4 tsp cinnamon)
Bake in a 375 degree oven for 15 mins.

~
On the front porch, I set up a small table complete with tea, scones, pear jam...
~
The scones turned out wonderfully!
Not too sweet, the topping added just enough spice so as to compliment the jam.

As we ate, we skimmed through the books, sharing enlightening quotes we came across or a favorite topic :)

This morning we attended my dear friends wedding!

Oh, the pears, I LOVE pears. we grow a particular variety of comice pears here in Southern Oregon...that don't grow anywhere else in the country. We call them "Royal Riviera pears" here..in any case, there are lots of pear orchards here in the area...and we have a festival every year called the "Pear Blossom Festival"...
How did you like the quince jam? I've had that before, it's wonderful. A friend of mine gifted me with a nice jar :) :) Have a lovely weekend, Mia. Love and hugs from Oregon, Heather :)
Hi Mia,
I'm fairly new to your blog but I think it is gorgeous!! I was wondering about the floral dress in the photo was it handmade? and if so what pattern did you use?
God Bless you and your family

My husband somehow found your blog a while back, via another blog, and we have all enjoyed it ever since. My girls, ages 4 and 7, were looking at all the photos with this post and were just enchanted! It gives them encouragement, even at their young ages, to be lovely young women for God's glory! Too bad we couldn't have all joined you for tea....that would have been fun!
Blessings from Central Illinois!

Hi Mia, lovely posts and photos. I wanted to share this...Basil Butter: soften a stick of butter, put it in your blender with a packed half cup of Basil leaves, mix up good. Remove and center in a sheet of waxed paper, roll up tucking the ends in and freeze. I add mine to cooked pasta, spread it on bread then broil. It would be
delicious on those bread sticks and also a nice topping for steaks if your enjoy them. Wishing you continued peace and happiness in the joy of your family.
Take care,Gail
